Forever is a book about New York City. It starts in Ireland and moves to New York, where the main character, Cormac O’Connor must track down the man responsible for his parents’ deaths. Things happen (as they tend to do) and he receives the gift of being able to live forever. There’s only one catch – he can never leave Manhattan. The book follows Cormac through the revolution, the Civil War, through different waves of immigration, and other historic times in New York’s history all the while seeking vengeance.
I love this book because of how historically accurate Hamill describes New York. Hamill is an expert historian and an expert author. He writes lovingly of his city.
